Cindy Grebow is the Early Childhood Director in Central Synagogue’s Department of Youth and Family Engagement, which includes the May Family Nursery School, Central Tots, and Camp Central. Cindy joined Central after serving 14 years as the Director of the Nursery School at New York City’s Congregation Habonim and, previously, as Assistant Director and co-head teacher for the Threes Program. Prior to her years at Habonim, she taught in the 92nd Street Y’s Parenting Center, working with infants, toddlers, parents, and caregivers. Cindy represents Central Synagogue as a member of the Independent Schools Admissions Association of Greater New York (ISAAGNY), the Early Childhood Educators of Reform Judaism (ECE-RJ), the Jewish Education Project’s (JEP) Peer Network for Early Childhood Directors, the North American Reggio Emilia Alliance (NAREA), and the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). A trained opera singer and musician all of her life, Cindy recently began playing the ukulele and guitar and loves playing and singing with the children in the Nursery School. She is a passionate animal lover, and lives in Manhattan with her husband, daughter, dog, two cats, and a parrot.
