Green Light NY: Immigration Reform Passes in NY State

We are thrilled to share that on June 17, 2019, the NY State Governor, Senate, and Assembly passed the Driver's License Access and Privacy Act (Green Light NY), which will restore the right to obtain a license, regardless of immigration status. Central Synagogue was proud to be part of a group of leaders from labor, the business community, other groups of faith and advocates, the New York Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism (RAC-NY), and the Green Light Coalition to ensure the passage of this important initiative in New York State immigration reform. Central Exhibits Panel of the AIDS Memorial Quilt

In celebration of Pride Month, Central will be exhibiting a panel of the AIDS Memorial Quilt in partnership with the NYC Pride Committee, Midtown East Corp., and the Names Project Foundation. Begun in the late 1980s as a way to honor the memories of those who died of AIDS, the Quilt was displayed for the first time on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. in 1987 and is now made up of more than 48,000 individual 3 x 6 foot memorial panels. Stop by Lese Lobby June 18 - 30 to view this installation, and while you’re in the neighborhood, visit the other quilt panels also being displayed throughout Midtown East.
