Rina Bergman is the Hebrew Coordinator and a full-time educator for the LCLJ. Originally from Michigan, she attended Jewish day school from elementary through high school before attending Michigan State University where she received a BA in arts and humanities, as well as a certificate in Judaic studies. She spent her junior year studying at Tel Aviv University and living in the City Center. The diversity and vibrancy of Jewish culture in Tel Aviv made a lasting impression on Rina and led her to pursue her master’s from the Jewish Theological Seminary in Judaic studies. Rina’s professional experience includes teaching Hebrew, Jewish art, food, and more to students ages 4–94; mentoring middle and high school students; and interning as a chaplain at a level-one trauma hospital. In her role at Central, Rina coordinates all Hebrew classes and materials, runs professional development for full- and part-time educators, and implements biannual assessments. She also works on LCLJ communications and curriculum development, and teaches daily Judaics and Hebrew classes. Rina loves to cook, do the New York Times crossword, see live music and art, and eat the best Greek food and almond croissants in Astoria, Queens.
