Terrorist Attack in Texas

January 16, 2022 | General News | Messages From Leadership

This email was sent to the congregation on January 16, 2022.

Dear Central Family,

Our hearts are heavy following yesterday’s terrorist attack at Beth Israel synagogue in Fort Worth, Texas. We are relieved that Rabbi Charlie Cytron-Walker and the other three hostages are safely home with their families and grateful to the brave law enforcement and FBI agents who risked their lives to save them. We now turn our focus to supporting the victims and the congregation in their healing and on continued vigilance for our community’s security. We are aware of certain reports that discussed the involvement of our Senior Rabbi in this situation. We can confirm that she was contacted by the gunman, although she had no prior connection with him. Rabbi Buchdahl immediately contacted law enforcement and followed their directions. Beyond that we will have no further comment, and are offering all of our prayers to the victims for a speedy recovery.
