Central Kicks Off Summer at URJ Camps

July 29, 2019

Wondering where some of our clergy, staff, and many member children have gone away this summer? You’ll find many of them on a brief—or extended—stay at URJ sleepaway camps.

Rabbi Nicole Auerbach and B’nei Mitzvah Program Manager Keren Eckstein spent the week of July 21–27 serving as visiting faculty at URJ Crane Lake and Eisner Camps in Massachusetts. They taught the youngest campers a class on Young Jewish Values, including courage and pride. For older campers, Eckstein taught “Edible Environmentalism” and Rabbi Auerbach taught “Power and Consent.”

Rabbi Mo Salth, an Eisner alum, was also at camp last weekend as his son began his first summer session there. Central congregant and Rabbi Darcie Crystal will be a visiting faculty member at camp August 11–17.

“We know from experience that attending a URJ summer camp can transform lives,” says Rabbi Auerbach, “and research shows there is no better way to offer your child a positive Jewish identity.”

Central acknowledges all of our member children attending not only Crane Lake and Eisner, but also URJ 6 Points Sci-Tech, Creative Arts, and Sports camps this summer.
