A Look at Our History: Sukkot
November 13, 2014 | General News
The seasonal pleasures of enjoying the aroma of the etrog (citrus fruit) and lulav bouquet in a sukkah are one of the special holiday memories of many Jews.
Rabbi Sheldon Zimmerman and Cantor Richard Botton bring this experience to all of us in a photo from about 35 years ago.
Each year Central Synagogue celebrates this holiday with a sukkah to which the public is invited to share the experience of a temporary booth which was the Israelite’s shelter as they traveled in exile across the Sinai to the promised land.
These monthly historical briefs are prepared by Amy Goldberger, Chair of the Archives Committee and Anne Mininberg, Archivist. To submit a photo or historical document to our Archives, contact us.
