Installation of Cantor Mo Glazman
Our congregation gathered for Shabbat Shirah on Friday, January 30 to celebrate the installation of Cantor Mo Glazman as senior cantor. Congregation president David Edelson presented Cantor Glazman with a tallit embroidered with Psalm 150, the theme of the evening. Cantor Glazman shared the story of his family's history and his journey to Central Synagogue. Rabbi Buchdahl and Cantor Botton of Central Synagogue and Rabbis Tom Weiner and Shira Milgrom of Congregation Kol Ami in Westchester, Cantor Glazman's prior synagogue, gave remarks. Highlights of the evening included several Shabbat melodies written by Cantor Glazman in the style of soul music, and a surprise reprise of Psalm 150 to the tune of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" sung by the entire congregation.
