My Father Was a Wanderer: Moving Jews through History

Tuesdays, March 5–June 4, 2:00–3:15 pm

In Person (Community House)

From Abraham in the Tanach through astronaut Ilan Ramon in the 21st century, Jews have traveled. We have migrated, we have been chased from our homes, we have made pilgrimage to our holy sites, and we have journeyed as scientists to further human knowledge. This class will introduce students to accounts of Jewish travel from the Bible through the Space Age. We will ask about the forces that caused Jews to travel, the different ways we interpret what we find in foreign places, and the question of "what is home" in a world with so much movement.
