Central’s Civil Rights Journey

April 11-14, 2019

Travel with Central April 11-14, 2019 as we trace the history of the civil rights movement in America while keeping our sights set on the continuing struggle for social and racial justice.

Joined by Rabbi Stephanie Kolin, Rabbi Nicole Auerbach, and lay leaders from our community organizing team, we will have the opportunity to meet with local civil rights leaders, and to consider how our own efforts to bring about racial justice and criminal justice reform connect with the struggles of the earlier civil rights movement. A trip highlight includes a visit to Bryan Stevenson’s Equal Justice Initiative Lynching Museum and Memorial in Montgomery, AL, a crucial component to our understanding of our country’s history and the trajectory from slavery to today’s reality of mass incarceration.
