RESILIENCE: Photos from the Central Synagogue Community

Friday, February 18, 2022, 4:30–6:00 pm

In- Person: Pavilion, located at 652 Lexington Avenue, side entrance

This opening event is for Central Syngagogue members and their guests. No registration required. We ask all guests to bring proof of vaccination and to wear masks while indoors.

How has the pandemic changed our lives? How has it affected the way we see the world? How has it influenced the ways in which we come together?

Early in the pandemic, the Central Synagogue community participated in a series of virtual photojournalism workshops that helped us answer these questions. Participants learned the principles of photojournalism, and then went out into the world to photograph what they saw. The images they captured show how our community has weathered the past years, but also gives a glimpse of what our future might look like.

This exhibition includes more than 80 images by nearly 50 photographers. Collectively, these photographs tell a story of community connection and resilience in the face of a global emergency that has affected each of us uniquely.

Following this opening event, public viewing hours for this exhibition will be on Fridays at 5:00-6:00pm (just before Shabbat services) until April 22.

The exhibition will be held in the Pavilion, located at 652 Lexington Avenue, side entrance.
