Religion and State Issues in Israel: An Activist Perspective

Friday, March 17, 2023, 4:30 pm-5:30 pm

In Person (Lese Lobby) & Virtual

Orly Erez-Likhovski is no stranger to fighting for Israeli democracy. As director of the Israel Religious Action Center, she helped bring about significant legal achievements including making gender segregation on public transportation illegal, filing and winning the first ever class action suit regarding exclusion of women, and disqualifying racist candidates from running for parliament. Hear her perspective about the current threat of a proposed overhaul of Israel’s Supreme Court mandate, and her suggestions of what Israelis and American Jews can do to support democracy. The talk will be followed by a brief Q&A, and we encourage all attendees to join us for Shabbat services where Orly will speak from the bimah.

This program will be held in-person with a virtual access option.
