Twentieth-century Jewish religious life was grounded in denomination-based congregations, providing a base for communal gathering and individual Jewish identity. However, recent studies point to an increasingly “post-denominational” future for American Jewry. Representing Reform, Conservative, and Orthodox Judaism, our panel will discuss questions of contemporary denominational identity in synagogue communities.

Professor Adam S. Ferziger is a professor in the Department of Jewish History and Contemporary Jewry at Bar-Ilan University who focuses on history of religious responses to modern and contemporary life.

Rabbi Angela Buchdahl is the Senior Rabbi at Central Synagogue.

Rabbi Elliot Cosgrove is the Senior Rabbi at Park Avenue Synagogue

Rabbi Chaim Steinmetz is the Senior Rabbi at Congregation Kehillath Jeshurun
