Opening Doors: Abby Pogrebin & Rabbi Ari Lorge on Sondheim

Tuesday, August 9, 2022, 5:30 pm

Virtual

We know the thrill of seeing a Stephen Sondheim show from the house – but how does a Sondheim musical get from the page to stage? Join past Central Board President Abby Pogrebin as she takes us where few get to go: behind the curtain! In conversation with Rabbi Ari Lorge, Pogrebin will invite us into the experiences of auditioning for, being cast in, rehearsing, and opening a Sondheim musical. She will share her Sondheim story as the youngest member of the cast of Merrily We Roll Along – the only flop in Sondheim’s storied career. Join them for an intimate look at this theatre giant at a crossroads in his career, what the experience meant in the moment, and what it still means today.

This program will be presented on Zoom and will be streamed live on Facebook.

Opening Doors is part of our ongoing Summer of Sondheim series, celebrating the life and legacy of the late, great Stephen Sondheim.
