Disability and Chronic Illness: Reframing Texts from Torah to Today
Wednesday, February 23, 2022, 12:00–1:15 pm
Virtual
Please join Rabbi Emily Aronson (current Interim Dean of Students at Hebrew Union College New York) for a special text study honoring Jewish Disabilities Awareness and Inclusion Month. We will unpack the ways in which Jewish texts and liturgy have traditionally presented God as a 'healer' and 'curer' in relation to disability and chronic illness. By breaking down these harmful theological ideas, we will build up a new model for Divine-human partnership in accessibility. This Lunch & Learn takes the place of regular Torah Study on this date.
