1 in 3448: A Holocaust Survivor on her Improbable Survival

Thursday, November 9, 2023, 7:00–8:00 pm

In Person (Pavilion)

Sylvia Smoller, a Central Synagogue member and Holocaust survivor, was a young girl when she and her parents fled Warsaw amidst air raids and sirens. Against all odds, the actions of two men – Japanese Diplomat Chiune Sugihara and Dutch Diplomat Jan Zwartendijk – would change their lives forever. As we mark 85 years since the events of Kristallnacht (the Night of Broken Glass), we have precious few opportunities left to hear directly from survivors. We invite you to bear witness to Sylvia’s vital story and join a conversation moderated by one of our clergy.
