An Evening with Acclaimed Artist Fred Wilson

Rabbis Sarah Berman and Hilly Haber spoke with Fred Wilson, an acclaimed American artist. Wilson has explored the connections between humanity, our environment, and identity for more than three decades. Wilson’s work ranges from sculpture, glass-making, and assemblage to curating and educating, and serves to bring hidden histories into the light. Wilson’s art has been the focus of dozens of exhibitions globally since 1992, and he represented the United States at the Venice Biennale in 2003.

Hunger & Food Insecurity Town Hall | January 14, 2021

To generate awareness and interest in our community members of Central in Action organized a Hunger and Food Insecurity Town Hall with representatives from Henry Street Settlement, God’s Love We Deliver, Met Council, and City Meals on Wheels to learn about food justice in New York City and ways to volunteer with and support organizations on the front lines of the food insecurity crisis.

Central Launches Turn on the TAP NY Campaign | February 13, 2020

Central’s Central in Action Leadership Team launches a campaign to reinstate New York’s Tuition Assistance Program for men and women earning college degrees while incarcerated.

Raise the Age NY Campaign Event | March 13, 2017

Central Synagogue joined with Governor Andrew Cuomo to raise the presumptive age of criminal responsibility in New York and advocate for justice, support, and resources for youth in our carceral system.
