Job Summary/Objective
Maintains the buildings interiors/exteriors in a clean and orderly manner; performs a variety of custodial and building maintenance duties as directed. Sets up and breaks down events at the facilities as directed, and performs related work as required. This position is responsible for the safe and daily operations of the facilities.

Reports to:
The Buildings Manager, Assistant Buildings Manager



  • Full Time, Schedule may Fluctuate, May be required to work Fridays and Saturdays for Services, Weekends, Holidays and High Holidays.
  • Non-Exempt and eligible for OT over 40 hours per week with the supervisor’s approval.

Events and Maintenance Staff Person:

  • Sets up and breaks down events. Assists in the operations of the Nursery and Religious School
  • Sweeps, scrubs and mops floors
  • Vacuums and cleans rugs
  • Washes, dusts and polishes furniture, woodwork, pictures and shelves
  • Empties and cleans waste receptacles
  • Cleans walls, fountains, windows and restrooms
  • Replenishes supplies
  • Turns out lights and locks doors and windows
  • Reports necessary repairs
  • Cleans and maintains equipment used in work
  • May perform a variety of building maintenance tasks
  • Available for special events and High Holy Days
  • Promptly informs management of any injury, safety and/or security issues.

Core Competencies:

  • The methods, materials and equipment used in events, janitorial and building maintenance.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Maintain a safe and hazard free work environment for the Staff, Students, Clergy, Congregation, and fellow employees.
  • Report any suspicious/illegal activity to a supervisor and/or Security immediately.


  • To perform a variety of manual tasks; follow oral and written directions; plan and complete assigned duties on a regular schedule; maintain good working relationships with others. Ability to maintain privacy and confidentiality.

Administrative Assistant Adult Engagement & Center for Exploring Judaism

The Administrative Assistant will be a front-line representative for Adult Engagement and CEJ, as well as providing individual administrative support to Rabbi Rubin and Rabbi Haber. Working alongside the Adult Engagement Program Managers, s/he will provide assistance and support of Adult Engagement and CEJ programming, as well as ensuring the smooth operation of the departments’ basic functions. The administrator will be a member of the Center’s team and work with the Director and staff of the Center.

The Synagogue will employ you as a full-time Educator in The Lese Center for Living Judaism. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, classroom teaching, family and parent education, social justice programming, social and holiday programming, field trips and other off-site programs, and communication with parents and other stakeholders.
