History of Zionism

Wednesdays, March 27–May 22, 10:00–11:30 am

In Person (Community House) | Zoom

The Zionist movement might have started in the 19th century, but the concept of a Jewish homeland has existed for 2000 years – and continues to impact our lives today. In this 8-session class, join Upper East Side Shlicha (Israel emissary) Michal Abramoff on a journey through the history of Zionism from its earliest conceptions through our current moment. Participants will discuss the relationship between Zionism and Liberalism, explore the different ways this relationship manifests today, and interrogate the meaning of Zionism post-creation of the State of Israel in the 21st century.

This class is offered as a hybrid class, both in-person and on Zoom.
