Emily is thrilled to be joining the Central Synagogue Educator team! A second year HUC-JIR student, she is studying for her Masters in Religious Education with a concentration in Experiential Education. Emily grew up on Long Island, New York, where Reform Judaism helped shape her identity and path. As an active member in her home synagogue youth group growing up, Emily started to develop leadership skills and explore her role in Judaism. Eager to learn and teach more, she eventually became a Youth Director in 2009. This being her first Youth Directing job, she quickly fell in love with the openness and expression found in shaping Jewish Identity in the adolescent mind. As a Jewish Educator, Emily uses social action and experiential programming to develop the leadership skills for her adolescent and elementary programming. In her free time, Emily loves listening to vinyl records, reading an endless list of books, and discovering historical places on the East coast.
